So it’s been literally a week….but it’ll all fit into one post don’t worry. I don’t live a super exciting life. Monday of last week, a couple friends and I got together to watch most of the last season of The Glory together, which was tons of fun. We, I say but it was really just one person cooking while we watched lol, cooked some pork belly and it was soo good then watched the show. We ended up watching a bit over half of the season, then finished it up separately. I was stupidly nervous to have people over because they were honestly the first people I’ve had over at my apartment literally ever. And when I say ever, I mean not just this apartment, no ones been to any of my apartments ever because I haven’t had friends to do so…which is kinda sad and embarrassing, but moving on!! It was fun!!

The next day I drove home, thankfully at least getting away from the snow that decided to stick here in WV. And honestly, the three-ish days I spent there were somewhat a blur. I was with my family a lot. One day I drove up to Cincinnati with my younger sibling to a huge international store which was really cool. I spent way to much, but I’m excited about all the food lol. I’ve already tried some of the Samyang Ramen I got and it’s probably the best instant ramen I’ve had. I also got rice cakes and am looking forward to making tteokbokki. Another day I went with that same sibling to get some hot pot, which was amazing as always. We ate a ton and I’m kinda surprised we finished it all. At some point we also got boba? I don’t know why or when, but we did. My family also went and saw Shazam, which was fun. I haven’t gone to see a movie in a while. Before I left to come back, I visited my younger brother’s work for some free food (teehee) and also kindly told him he was going to make me some pens out of the material I picked out from the store he works at, which is a wood store. Then I was back here in WV. I got Piper a big version of the toy she loves and she was ecstatic for the big version, and still is. But she got that when we got back to my apartment. Then Sunday I spent the beginning of my day picking up a flutist at the airport and the rest of the day was just spent preparing for school today.

And now we’re here with today. I told you, my spring break wasn’t too exciting. OMG WAIT I also forgot to mention that I did break my bank and got an iPad because I needed an upgrade to my tablet to read music. It’s really nice so far too lol. But today was good. I didn’t practice over the break, which was honestly needed. My tmj joint was hurting a bit over break as well, and I’m now working on getting tools to help that not happen lol. But my body overall is more relaxed and free of tension and I could tell today in my practice. Sometimes, actually no, it is important to have breaks, not just sometimes. More consistent breaks, just some of them need to be longer. I’m pretty sure if I didn’t take a break I’d be mentally spiraling. The break allowed my brain to chill and now I’m ready to go, physically and mentally. Some musicians do really struggle with taking long breaks. Athletes take breaks between practice and game seasons, students have summer and winter breaks for a reason. Breaks are important and necessary. Don’t practice for eight hours a day everyday for a year, that’s just too much. This is your sign to take a break from practice…unless you’ve got like a concert or recital coming up, then maybe you should wait lol. I also had a band rehearsal today and a flute lesson. My lesson was mostly just talking about my recital and what I’m going to work on next. I’m kinda excited for that! Also, before the break I did get my recital videos up! They’re on my YouTube if you want to check them out!
