Well it’s been a hot minute. Yesterday I didn’t end up blogging because I got home late and was just super tired, so here I am today instead. I’m pretty sure I just took it easy and rested Saturday so that was cool. Sunday was a long day, but a lot of fun. I first met up with friends pretty early to grab some breakfast before heading over to Penn State for their flute day with Jasmine Choi. It was a three hour drive, so a bit of a drive, but also totally doable. When we got there we just walked around their campus for a bit until the recital that Jasmine Choi did. It was absolutely incredible. I was speechless and still am. Her tone is just so sweet. That’s the only way I can describe it. It’s just lovely. After the recital she did a meet and greet, which we somehow ended up being the first group to meet her, when we left the hall last and got in what everyone thought was the back of the line. I’m not complaining though. She was super nice and cool to meet. Afterwards most of us went outside and just enjoyed the day, while the flute player with us went to go rehearse with the pianist there for the masterclass. Then it was time for the masterclass, which was also really interesting. The performers we’re really great (especially the one from WVU :D) and I feel like I was able to learn a lot from watching the masterclass. By the time the masterclass was over, it was like 6pm, so we headed out to grab dinner before driving back to Morgantown. The ride back was pretty quiet, besides myself who drank a monster so I wouldn’t fall asleep driving, but it was a long day. Definitely worth it though! It was a lot of fun. When I got home though, I started to not feel good at all. I still don’t exactly know why, but I was definitely nauseous and it wasn’t that fun.

Studio friends with Jasmine Choi :))

Yesterday, I woke up super tired, probably because I didn’t fall asleep until like 2am because I was not feeling good when we got back. But I still went to my band rehearsal like normal. After the rehearsal, I practiced for a bit and then had my flute lesson. Both of which were good. We talked about, well I talked about how my motivation has been in general higher, but not always with flute. Some days I’m super motivated to practice, then the next day I might just want to compose or read up on some pedagogy books. And I’m trying to be okay with that because it is normal and okay. After my lesson, I grabbed dinner with some people and then just hung out in the music building until a faculty recital that we went to. When I got back, I was really tired, so I just took care of Piper and headed straight to bed. Today wasn’t that different. I woke up feeling bad, again, today it was a fun headache and a bit of just disassociating later in the day. I didn’t have my electronic music class so I literally just slept until like noon. I eventually decided I needed to get up for studio class and got ready. Studio class was a bit more chill today in some ways. Probably chill for people who are cool with sharing feelings lol. But I do think it’s kinda cool that at the end of the semester we’ll have a day where we go around and just basically say what we’re proud of and then usually people will agree/affirm and add to it. I definitely struggle with things like this for lots of reasons. One just literally being proud of my progress and seeing progress is difficult to me. I’m definitely my worst critic. The other thing is I just generally don’t like talking about my feelings very much. When I do, its usually only with people I feel very comfortable around and it’s usually not even sharing the full feelings if that makes sense. So even though I love everyone in the studio here and I feel pretty comfortable around them, it’s still difficult. But that’s okay 🙂 . After studio I went and grabbed dinner (again) with a friend….we’re totally ruining our bank accounts, but it’s fine lol. We ate and “chatted” for a while, which is always super nice. My raging headache unfortunately started to come back, so when I got home I took some medicine, took care or Piper again and then fell asleep. I woke up feeling better, which is why I’m blogging now, and hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be completely refreshed.

Tomorrow, I don’t have rehearsal, as our orchestra is going on a small trip and the amount of people gone would effect rehearsal, so all I have is just a hopefully quick rehearsal for someone’s recital? I’m not actually doing the recital, someone in orchestra is, but they need someone for tomorrow. Then Thursday, I’ll have a short meeting with my electronic music teacher so show what I’ve done so far on my assignment and get some feedback (which sounds really freaking scary to me) and then studio class. I may blog Thursday as well? We’ll see.
