So yesterday was even more eventful than I expected, which is impressive. After my first class, I practiced some and then had a lesson with an undergrad flute, which was honestly a bit intimidating. She’s definitely the most experienced flute player I’ve had to teach, of the small few I have taught, which just made me more nervous. I think I was just worried I’d sound like an idiot since she kinda knows what she’s doing, but I think the lesson itself went alright. Afterwards we had our studio class where the Emissary quartet came and played for us which was really fun. I quickly headed home after to take care of Piper and get ready for the studio recital, immediately going back to the music building to pick up a friend and then head to Chipotle to pick up food for us and some others, as they had rehearsal. Then things got interesting. The people I played a quartet with and another flutist and myself, decided to go on a walk since the weather was nice and we had time. We ended up going to the pond near the rec center and me, being me, wanted to feel the water. So I took off my shoes to dip into the extremely shallow part and completely slipped, as I was basically stepping onto a wet mossy rock covered in water. Down I went. I thought it was absolutely hilarious and was crying from laughter, the others maybe not so much, more worried about the fact I was bleeding (I am fine, it’s just a scratch). Anyhow, I decided I should probably not wear soaking concert black clothes to the recital and we headed back to the music building so I could get back to my apartment. So I quickly drove to my apartment, took a shower so I didn’t smell like pond water, changed and headed back…laughing the entire way. I haven’t laughed that much or been that happy in a hot minute, which sounds a little messed up. But sometimes being stupid is nice.
When I got back, we ran through our quartet and then obviously had our studio recital. I thought it went well, especially for our quartet who had basically started learning the piece last week. It is a bit sad to think about the fact that some of them won’t be here next year though. After the recital I successfully convinced some flutists to go get ice cream, the first place we went to being closed and then rushing to dairy queen before their drive through closed. We were successful and ended up just eating the ice cream in the parking lot. I’m not normal and didn’t want to stand outside so I was sitting on the top of my Subaru….which was so smart considering I literally fell into a pond a few hours earlier LOL. It was a ton of fun though getting to chat with them. Then I was headed home and into my bed because it was super late. But I seriously had such a fun time yesterday, even though I now have a decent scrape on my arm from falling. No broken wrist this time though!
Today was not so eventful, which is probably good. I practiced some and then had band. Afterwards I hit up CVS for some Neosporin and band aids, because I figured I probably should be an adult and take care of the scrape I got and not just let it be. When I got back, I started filming a bunch of stuff for the project I’ve been steadily working on. I took a dinner break before editing the video, which has ended up being about 20min long. I have so much more respect for YouTubers because that took HOURS. Hopefully it’ll be worth it though. I’m hoping I can get it uploaded tonight and then posted tomorrow 🙂 .
And that wraps up my eventful two days! It was fun. 10/10. Tomorrow should be pretty normal and then Friday I don’t have classes because of the holiday, so I may blog, but more likely my next post won’t be until Monday!
