Currently taking new online and in person (Georgetown KY and surrounding areas) students for lessons as of 08/20/24.

Pricing and Payment:

TimeOnlineIn personGroup Lesson (currently unavailable)
30min$25$30$20
45min$35$40$30
60min$45$50$40

*The first in person lesson will be complementary, so the student and I can see how we work together.

*Payments may be made via check, Venmo, GooglePay, or PayPal. Payments should be made monthly, unless only one lesson is scheduled, then payment is due before the lesson. I understand that there are times financially where large payments at once can be an issue, if this applies to any student, I ask to just let me know and we can figure something out.

*To schedule a lesson, visit my contact page (or click the button below) and be sure to select “lessons” when filling out the form.

*Lessons can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed/wanted.

*Group lessons are available to any level flutist. If you’re interested in having group lessons, be sure to include that in your email! I will pair up flutists with similar levels for group lessons and find times that work for the group.

Online Lessons:

*There are two options for online lessons. The first is to just have a “typical” lesson, but on Zoom where the student will play and we will work in real time together. In order for this to work, internet speed and sound quality need to be sufficient in order to get more out of the lesson, for both myself and the student. If this option is chosen, the first lesson will be free in order to ensure that all technology is sufficient.

*The second option for online lessons is to send a recording of the pieces we’re working on and email them to me with whatever questions or things you want to work on. Then we can meet over Zoom and go over everything, including demonstration from me and the student playing back if needed. This will help me be able to hear how students are progressing without having technology issues with microphones cutting out or the internet lagging, which can allow for a smoother lesson.

*Zoom settings for lessons:

  • Be sure that the text in the top left corner says “Original Sound for Musicians: On”. If it says “off” just click the text to switch it to on.
  • In the audio settings (click the arrow next to the mic symbol at the bottom), make sure that the option “High-fidelity music mode” is turned on and the “echo cancellation” is off.
  • Lastly, investing in a USB microphone for online lessons can also help improve the audio quality and the quality of the lesson in general.

Cancellation Policy:

Please notify me of any absences 24 hours before the scheduled lesson if possible via text, phone, or email. Makeup lessons can be scheduled if I’m notified in advance and have time to do so. There will always be one day a month for group makeup lessons if I’m unable to schedule a regular lesson reschedule. There is also the option of swapping lessons with another student in the studio.

Holidays:

I will not be having lessons on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Years Day, Easter, or July 4th. If you or your child’s regularly scheduled lesson falls on one of these days, we will either schedule a different day for that lesson or not have a lesson that week.

Teacher Absences:

If I need to miss a lesson due to illness or family emergency, I will try to give you a 24 hour notice. We will reschedule the lesson for another week, or you won’t be charged for the time we would have had a lesson.

Expectations:

Lesson/Student Expectations:

I expect my students to be respectful and courteous in their lessons. I encourage my students to be engaged in the lesson and to tell me any concerns or observations they may have throughout the lesson.

Parents are welcome to sit in on the first lesson or any lesson after that if they have any questions or concerns, want to learn more about the process of playing flute, or want to discover how to help their child practice at home. However, many students do tend to feel more comfortable and open to learning if their parents are not there. Please talk with your child beforehand to find out what they would prefer. The teacher reserves the right to ask a parent to leave if their presence alters the quality of the lesson.

Practice Expectations/Guidelines:

Students will get more out of our lessons if they are practicing regularly at home. The amount of time spent practicing will heavily vary from student to student and week to week. I encourage my students to enjoy their life, and not spend all of their free time playing flute, though I hope that practicing and playing the flute will be something they want to do and will enjoy doing.

Students and parents are welcome to contact me by phone, text, or email about lessons. Messages left after 7pm will be answered the following day.
