It really feels like I just blogged, but here I am again, two days later. Overall, it’s been good. Thursday I practiced as planned and then also had a meeting with my professor about lessons and my recital. I’m feeling better about my recital being when it is. It’s early, but I think I can do it. My memorization on a piece is going well and I think it’s do-able, especially if I can get my hearing pushed back some 🙂 . That was most of my day Thursday honestly, trying to continue to get everything settled for my recital. I also finished another K-drama 😀 and this one I found pretty interesting to watch. It’s called “It’s okay to not be okay” and I really liked what they did. It was a good balance of mystery, conflict, and of course romance since it’s a k-drama. It’s about a guy, Gang-tae, who practically raised himself and his older autistic brother since their parents passed when they were young. It left them running from the butterfly, which I won’t spoil, but it led to a lot of moves, hospitals, and books. It’s really good.
Today, well, I didn’t practice quite as much because I was tired lol, but I still did some. I also had rehearsal and then our methods and pedagogy class, which I think is going to be very nice. The only thing that went wrong today, was coming home to a disaster of an apartment (and for some reason typing that sentence reminded me I need to move my laundry to the dryer LOL). Piper has always been suuuuuper good out of her kennel, so I don’t know what went wrong today or what spooked her so much. My mirror was fallen, a pot broken, my coffee table askew with a plant spilled over and dirt all over my floor, even the blinds were messed up 🙁 . Again, this has literally never happened with her, the most she’s done is chew up her bed as a puppy. I even checked my camera in my apartment and there’s nothing, so I have no idea what happened. She seems to be okay now though.
After cleaning up, I ate and have pretty much been at my computer since…oops. What have I been doing, you ask? Well, finding music. I’m making a list of all the flute and electronic music I can find, so I can have it as well as the studio here. I love this kind of music, so I’m actually excited. That and I need to work on something after my recital, or if I get sick of my recital music, so I’m trying to pick a piece to work on. I also found out that the studio owns a lot of equipment for live processing and if they don’t have it, the school probably does, which is SO EXCITING to me. I really want to get into it all and so I’m also hoping to find a piece that will let me mess around with them (or write a piece). I’m pretty torn right now on what to get. It’s between three pieces I think, and I may just get all of them. The first is one I found in my undergrad and wanted to do, but it wouldn’t have been possible, Limital Highway by Christopher Cerrone. It’s really cool, but also probably the most difficult looking of the three. Then there’s a piece called The Clocksmith by Kelly Catlin which is also really cool and has a good beat to it, definitely my kind of thing. Lastly, And Everything In-between by Jacob Thiede, which is a bit slower and works up to matching will a cool beat, and there’s apparently some sort of lighting that goes with it. We’ll see.
Lastly, I’m working on getting my recording of the Chaminade Concertino up (it’s uploading as I type) and posting it. I still feel really happy about this recording and how it went. Tomorrow, I’m going to be up in Pittsburg again with some flute friends to go ice skating and have some food, which will be really fun 🙂
