The beginning of this week was pretty normal honestly, nothing too different. Thursday, I had a composition lesson and it made me really excited to keep working on my composition, so that’ll be coming yay. I also went to a chamber concert on Thursday, but I first met up with a flute player and we went out to eat together before, which was honestly SO NICE. I feel like I haven’t seen her at all, so it was nice to catch up a bit. Friday, I had a lesson with one of the freshman, which I think went okay. I still feel really unsure as a teacher and like I’m unqualified and don’t know what I’m doing at all, but the lesson notes they send back say otherwise. So I should listen to the people I actually teach lol.
Saturday began the craziness. This whole situation I’m about to blog about is a “better to ask for forgiveness than permission”…aka if you’re one of my band directors here look away. Saturday was the Global Citizen’s Festival in NYC and I had won tickets to it, so I went to that instead of the football game. Sorry….but kinda not really. So Friday, my sibling, brother and dad all drove up here and spent the night. Saturday at 4am, my sibling and I made the 6hr drive to Staten Island, where some extended family live. We caught up with them for a bit before catching the ferry and subway over to the concert. Side-note, we SUCK at the subway system. It made no sense to me. When we eventually got there, we were in line for hours…in the cold pouring rain… :/. But we made it in and actually got a decent standing spot. Now, we went for 3racha and left just after they performed, but man were they incredible. The entire Stray Kids group was supposed to go, but a few members got in a minor car accident, so they sent just their producing team, 3racha. Stray kids and 3racha have done a lot for me and I love their music, it was surreal to actually be able to see them with my own eyes. They slayed the concert. I don’t think I can put into words how much I enjoyed seeing and hearing them. It wasn’t the GCF, it was a 3racha concert lol. But we were freezing and soaked, so we headed out after they performed and headed to target to get dry clothing. Once we were warm and dry, we headed to a Korean restaurant and got some fried chicken and ttebokki and it was SO GOOD. Then we headed back to families house to sleep. I did lose my voice a bit from the amount of screaming I somehow managed to do seeing 3racha.
We got up bright and early Sunday to go to the Ice Cream Museum, which was a ton of fun. The ice cream was great, the rooms were fun and we got some cool pictures that I’m sure I’ll post at some point. Afterwards, we went to the underground market, which I didn’t know was a thing. But while there we kinda went to a KPop store and I got a few SKZ albums I don’t have, then we grabbed some food and made a bad financial decision to go to another KPop album store…where I bought even more….So anyways, I came home with 8 SKZ albums LMAO. I only need 2 more and I’ll have all their albums though so that’s really cool and I love that. Then, with our albums in hand, we headed back to get our things and drive another 6hrs back to Morgantown, where I immediately slept, while everyone else headed back to Kentucky.
So it was a quick, but really incredible trip and I honestly LIVE for these kinds of short trips. I look forward to them, I have a lot of fun, and then I come back feeling refreshed and better. I got practically no sleep this weekend, but I’m like ready to go and happier than normal just because it switched up my routine a bit 🙂
