This past week gradually started to get better. Tuesday was still a bit rough mentally, but I pushed through. Wednesday was a lot better and I generally felt a lot better. I got a smoothie bowl (this place I found is incredible) so my day started good lol. I then recorded some for a competition I entered, which went okay. I’m not super pleased with the recordings, but I gave it my best with the time I had. I’ve also basically become a piccolo repair person for marching band…so that’s been interesting. I’ve seen almost every piccolo player at this point with some sort of issue lol. So much so that I bought a new screwdriver set and I was abnormally very excited about it (and it is a great set. Def worth it lol).
Thursday, my composition lesson was cancelled, so after class I came back home to eat and take a nap which was SO NEEDED. My mood after that nap made my day and the next 10xs better. I did have a performance in studio after, which was also okay. I played a Telemann Fantasie, which isn’t my favorite and I feel like that was heard in my performance, but I’m trying. It was decent though. Friday was a long day. After all of my normal classes and marching band rehearsal, part of the marching band went to a volleyball game, and I went as well to get an idea of how pep band will go next semester. First off, I like watching volleyball wayyyy more than I do football, and I also understand it more. So overall, I had a much better time at this game. For pep band, they rely heavily on the GA that is there, so I got a little go at being on the headset and figuring out Beam, the program they use to read music off of. It was a bit stressful at first, but it really wasn’t bad at all and I definitely feel better about doing pep band next semester.
Saturday, surprise surprise, was another game day. This one was much smoother though and what I assume the rest will be like. But, there was a special announcement at this game that the marching will be featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in 2024, so that’s super exciting for them. The game was against Pitt though, who WVU apparently has a nice rivalry with…so some fans were a bit hostile, but it sounds like they were supportive of their band so that’s good. We did win, so yay. After the game, the bands stayed back to talk to each other and play for each other which they really enjoyed. And then I was basically running home after to go to bed LOL. Sunday I literally just slept and ate. Then today was pretty normal, though I am very tired still. I spent hours cleaning my apartment, but it looks and feels much nicer now.
And that’s about all for this past week. It definitely started rough, but got better. I’m okay-ish now 🙂
