I feel like so much has happened the past two days that I wasn’t expecting. Starting with yesterday, I woke up and had a doctors appointment. To summarize, it was A LOT, but everything is fine. After that I decided to relax a bit and just breath by taking Piper to a park. I chose a park I’d never heard of, just to see and I do think this will be my park of choice for a while. Mostly because there was practically no one there, which both Piper and myself love. Anyway, after walking her a bit, we set up camp a bit underneath this bridge that was close to a creek. I told myself I was going to work too, but I definitely didn’t. I really just sat and watched Piper and did some training things with her, but it was a good way to just clear my head. Piper isn’t a huge fan of water, but she was VERY interested in the creek and I could have sworn she was going to jump in a few times. I took her to a beach in FL last year and she wasn’t a fan of the ocean and wanted nothing to do with it, so I was surprised she kept getting so close to the water, even getting her paws wet. Then at one point, she was sniffing around and apparently it was around where a duck was hiding. So it dove into the water and Piper was not happy. Eventually she started to be okay with them and ready to leave the park. I had a few hours of down time before I headed to the music building to listen to a flute player play her pieces for a competition and then subbing in orchestra. I’m not gonna lie, orchestra was frustrating. We played through Beethoven’s 5th, and I was subbing on piccolo, so I sat through 3 whole movements, played through the 4th and then the director decided to end there. Meaning, we didn’t play the other piece that was on the schedule. So while getting out early is super nice, it’s not nice having to sit through like 30min of music, play for maybe 10, then leave. Oh well. Then I went with the other orchestra flute players and some other flute players all went out to eat. That was nice…pretty normal. Normal now. In the past that would have been record breaking. I went home absolutely exhausted and fell asleep faster than I have in months.

Today was a bit more chill. I woke up, watched Chan’s live (teehee) and went to band, where we had some high schooler visitors. Then I had my pedagogy class, which was also normal. Then I grabbed dinner with another flute player after at a new Asian buffet that we were told was actually pretty good. It wasn’t bad surprisingly! I ate way too much (like two full plates of food, 4 things of sushi and dessert o.O). But it was all only 20$, which was surprising. I was able to try new foods though, which I always enjoy. Today it was barbecued squid and frog legs…both were actually pretty good. When I got back to my apartment, I don’t even remember what I did honestly. I took a bath to relax and then I decided to work on my composing project, which I got lost in and was sitting at my piano for literally at least 2 hours straight, maybe 3. But I do like where this one is heading and it is one that I am planning to actually play. I feel like this is the first time that I’ve had an idea and been able to make it come to life. Hopefully I’ll still feel that way about it tomorrow 🙂 . That’s where I’m ending today as I should probably actually go to bed and not stare at my computer and compose for who knows how many more hours. Tomorrow probably won’t be anything big, but Sunday I’m headed over to Penn State with some flute players to see Jasmine Choi play a recital and then a flutist from here is playing for her in a masterclass, which should be a lot of fun!
