Way back to last Thursday, it was pretty normal. Friday was as well, though I didn’t have school. Really a lot of what I’ve been doing over the weekend started on Thursday. And the super exciting thing I’ve been doing is studying, a whole lot of it. I don’t really know what pushed me to start studying, but something did. I guess my insecurity mostly lol. I am very insecure…I was going to finish that with “when it comes to teaching the flute”, but just in general I’m pretty insecure lol. But I am insecure when it comes to teaching flute. I feel like I know nothing about it even though I’ve had flute lessons for years. It’s like I get into a room to teach and I completely forget what the flute even is. So in hopes to combat that and not be super insecure about teaching, I’m trying to study up on how to teach flute, looking at different method books and other resources that teach how to teach flute. I’m not sure it’s helping a ton yet, but I have ordered quite a few more books to read and get through. Hopefully I’ll become more confident in my teaching.
The other thing that took over my weekend was this here website. I gave it a little makeover (hope you like it), as well as just made preparations to make it more of a professional website with a blog, instead of just a blog. So here within the next few weeks, hopefully more will be coming. I’m working on setting up flute studio stuff. The whole process has given me an immense about of respect for people who do this, because it’s not easy. I was having to literally code stuff, which I know nothing about. I still don’t know how it worked, all I know is that it did. Also, there should hopefully be a pop up thing that greets you every so often (I tried not to make it be super annoying), but by filling that out you can get emails from me to notify you when I post (hopefully I did it right haha)! I’m also thinking about doing a weekly email where I maybe plug some performances or other things that I’ve been into or watching…lmk if that interests you.
I also spent a lot of time editing, as you may have seen. The extended technique guides took so many hours to produce, but I think I’m pretty pleased with them. I also worked on general schoolwork. I have no idea why I was so productive this weekend. It surprised me too. I kinda hope the productivity stays. But while I’m more productive in other areas, I’m lacking in flute practice. When it comes to practicing lately, I just really don’t want to. Which I think is okay. The things I’m doing are also important. I’ve been trying to practice still, but it hasn’t been as much as earlier in the semester, but I was also prepping for a recital then.
Anywho, I’ve been studying and working a lot on various things that are somewhat related to flute that hasn’t been picking up my flute and playing it lol. I did find out on Saturday morning that I won a competition I had entered, which is cool. It was an international competition and open to any instrument, so pretty cool imo. I haven’t won any international competitions or anything so that was a cool surprise. I really wasn’t expecting it. (In case you’re wondering, I submitted the Chaminade recording I have on YouTube!!)
Today was also really great honestly. Best Monday I’ve had in a while…..(maybe it’s because I woke up to a bubble notification from Chan….embarassinggggg). But I got some potentially good news in band, nothing is set in stone though, so I’m trying not to get my hopes up about it. I didn’t have a lesson today, which was a bit weird. Instead I went and spent money at Petco :D. I wanted to get some things for Piper so we can go to a park and do some training/studying. We’ll see how that goes. I think the next few days will be pretty normal, but we’ll see what happens with my motivation.
