Yesterday was surprisingly okay. I had normal classes and then later that night I had my recital dress rehearsal. I did practice yesterday as well, though it wasn’t as much as I wanted. After about an hour of playing, my tmj starting acting up again, so it was quiet practice until my rehearsal. But it’s fine because now it doesn’t hurt. The rehearsal I thought actually went pretty well. I started with Tuberama so the person that is doing the sound stuff could get to something. It was so weird not having to be the one setting up all the equipment! In my senior recital last year, I had to bring and set up my own sound system. But here, I just sat and they took care of it all. It was nice. But we got the levels good for tomorrow. Then I played through everything with my piano, which was also fine. I actually feel okay about doing Chant de Linos tomorrow as well as the other pieces, though I am wimping out on playing from memory on the Tchaikovsky piece…I’m still scarred from my hearing. But! it sounds good and I’m still trying to get away from the score with it since it is memorized, it’s just there so I don’t have a repeat of my hearing. Then I finished up the rehearsal with a flute player for Revamper. We performed together at FSW and I asked her to come play at my recital too, so we were working our choreography and getting it fresh in our brains. I was going to record my rehearsal in case I did great and then I’d have recordings of the songs, but I didn’t dress that nice so I didn’t and I definitely regret that because that was definitely some of the best runs I have had.

Today, I once again had no classes! So I was able to rehearse Revamper and get that completely ready for tomorrow. Then I ran through everything and I’m feeling pretty good. Though it may just be that the fact my recital is tomorrow hasn’t sunk in quite yet. I also worked on and finished another assignment for my electronic music class that I probably spent way too long on, but it’s cool. This time I combined a sample of the flute and glissando headjoint with a synth I designed to make a cool/weird instrument. It was cool, I think. Our next assignment is actual composing, which will be fun. It’s creating background music for a short advertisement. And that’s basically where I am at, after finishing up homework.

I’m not super nervous about my recital, at least yet, which is good. I think a part of this is just reminding myself that I have done the work. I know the pieces. So it’ll be fine. And even if it’s not fine and I have a literal train wreck of a recital, nothing that serious is going to happen, other than me probably breaking down. But that’s not going to happen! Because I am prepared! And excited! I guess I should also self-promote here and say it will be livestreamed on my facebook and instagram tomorrow and I’ll likely upload videos of it as well, either on here or YouTube or some other social. Also tomorrow is an orchestra concert where another flutist here will be playing a concerto with the orchestra, so that’ll be good. Friday I plan to just chill and go to my one class lol. LET’S HAVE A GOOD RECITAL!!
